Antioch is a larger medium-sized city located in the state of California. With a population of 110,898 people and 19 constituent neighborhoods, Antioch is the 64th largest community in California.

Housing costs in Antioch are among some of the highest in the nation, although real estate prices here don't compare to real estate prices in the most expensive communities in California.

Unlike some cities where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Antioch is neither predominantly one nor the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Antioch is a city of sales and office workers, service providers, and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in Antioch who work in office and administrative support (15.85%), sales jobs (11.04%), and management occupations (7.84%).

In Antioch, however, the average commute to work is quite long. On average, people spend 39.79 minutes each day getting to work, which is significantly higher than the national average. One bright side is that local public transit is widely used, so it may be an option to avoid the headache of driving in the heavy traffic by leaving the car at home and taking transit.  

Like elsewhere in America, most people in Antioch use a private automobile to get to work. But notably, a substantial number of Antioch‘s citizens do make use of public transit in their daily commute, primarily riding the subway. This helps more people get to work with less air pollution, and require fewer highways to get them there.

The education level of Antioch citizens is a little higher than the average for US cities and towns: 21.36% of adults in Antioch have at least a bachelor's degree.

The per capita income in Antioch in 2010 was $26,385, which is middle income relative to California, and upper middle income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $105,540 for a family of four. However, Antioch contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.

Antioch is an extremely ethnically-diverse city. The people who call Antioch home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. People of Hispanic or Latino origin are the most prevalent group in Antioch, accounting for 32.78% of the city’s residents (people of Hispanic or Latino origin can be of any race). The greatest number of Antioch residents report their race to be White, followed by Black or African-American. Important ancestries of people in Antioch include Irish, Italian, English, and French .

Foreign born people are also an important part of Antioch's cultural character, accounting for 21.91% of the city’s population.

The most common language spoken in Antioch is English. Other important languages spoken here include Spanish and Tagalog.
